Devorah’s Angels is a volunteer-based organization founded in 2017 in loving memory of Devorah Alexander (A”H)—a woman known for her boundless kindness, open heart, and dedication to the people around her. Her legacy lives on through our work supporting women, families, singles, and the elderly in Tzfat during times of illness, crisis, or major life transitions.
With warmth and sensitivity, we provide nourishing meals, financial assistance, emotional support, and practical help—whether after childbirth, during medical challenges, or when someone simply has no one else to turn to. Most of those we help are new olim or single women without local family support, and our goal is to ease their burden with dignity and care.
Our dedicated team of over 80 volunteers cook, deliver, and offer help where it’s needed most. We also welcome others to get involved—creating a community of giving that uplifts both those who receive and those who give.

About Batsheva Nelson
Bat Sheva Nelson, founder of Devorah’s Angels, was born in Scotland, raised in Canada, and made Aliyah to Israel at the age of 19. After living abroad with her family, she returned to Israel and settled in Tzfat, where she has been a devoted and active member of the community for the past 16 years.
Bat Sheva has been involved in a wide range of grassroots initiatives, with a special focus on supporting women and teens. She has organized women’s gatherings, musical evenings,
farbrengens, and creative programs in local seminaries, and has taught guitar to foster connection and expression.
She created and led a young mothers’ support group that met weekly for several years, offering a safe and nurturing space for mothers to connect, share, and support one another.
In partnership with the local Chabad Rebbetzin Rivky Kaplan, Bat Sheva co-founded a support network for older single women in Tzfat — including those who are widowed or divorced — offering holiday care packages, meaningful gatherings, and ongoing emotional support.
For the past 15 years, she has also co-run the Chasdei Chana Sheitel Gemach alongside Cena Abergel of California, providing hundreds of women with
beautiful second-hand sheitels when they could not afford new ones.
Together with her husband, Bat Sheva has opened her home to hundreds of guests over the years, offering hospitality, warmth, and heartfelt support. Her life’s work is fueled by compassion, experience, and a deep love for her community.
